Call the Police Department and request to have your name added to the vacation watch list, and ensure your contact information is up-to-date with the Police. Place lights on a timer. For extended absences, cancel or place mail and papers on hold, or request assistance from neighbors to remove such items from view.
Where are the rules about parking in the city? Parking is permitted along street frontages, unless specifically marked otherwise. Drivers should not park their cars in any space that would prevent a Fire truck or ambulance from passing thru a street. Cars are not allowed to park overnight on the streets, unless provided permission by the Police Department.

Who is allowed to solicit from door to door? Religious groups and the U.S. Census can solicit without a permit, and persons who have a permit issued by the Hillsborough Police Department. Soliciting is not allowed at night.

If you do not recognize a person at your door, the Police Department suggests that you do not open the door. Residents should always report any suspicous persons to the Police.
