In an effort to continually improve our services and relationship with our community, the Hillsborough Police Department is interested in starting a community out reach program within the Asian community. Recently, the Hillsborough Police Department sent two police officers to Taiwan as part of Cultural Exchange Program. The officers spent two weeks working with the Taipei Police Department. These officers established lasting friendships within the Taipei Police Department and with members of the community.
It is the goal of the Hillsborough Police Department to establish better communications and trust between our department and the Asian Community. We hope to initiate meetings at various residences in Town where officers and residents can meet and discuss issues of concern.
Our goals for these meetings are such things as:
We want the Asian community to feel comfortable in contacting the Hillsborough Police anytime they have a question regarding police matters.
To share with our citizens on how the Hillsborough Police depends on them to be our eyes and ears of the community.
To inform our residents of programs the Hillsborough Police currently have in place, such as vacation security checks, VIP Profile Program, HELP Program, etc.
Provide information on how not to become victims of crime through our Crime Prevention Program.
Explain our procedures on how we respond to calls for service.
Discussion of enforcement of laws and Town ordinances.
Open forum for questions and answers.
We would greatly appreciate your consideration in attending these community meetings. Our presentation will be approximately one hour in length. If you have any questions, please contact your host, or Sergeant Doug Davis at the Hillsborough Police Department.
