Fire Hazard Mitigation and Fuel Reduction Program in Town-Owned Open Spaces
The Town of Hillsborough is considering a fire hazard and fuel reduction project in its Town-owned open space areas to reduce the risk of wildfire in these Town-owned open space areas. The Town will mow groundcover, thin shrubs and limb-up trees to 10 feet in certain areas within Town owned open spaces. Saplings (4” in diameter or smaller) may be removed as needed to reduce fire risk. There will not be removal of large, live trees. Here is a brief description of the project as well as quick links to maps of the Open Space Fire Management Project Areas and the Proposed Defensible Space & Fire Management Areas. The links below provide more detailed information about this project. You may also contact Hillsborough’s Public Works Department 650-375-7444 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
