The Town is making every effort to expedite the process and to lessen the impact on the neighboring residence. The measures to date that were installed were to secure and maintain the slide and utilities (gas, water, sewer, and high voltage) to avoid interruption in service.
Over the last few weeks, we have been drilling test holes and testing the soils to determine what would be the best fix for the slide. We are concurrently working on the repair plan documents, which include the design of the new retaining wall and drainage system; we estimate that the construction documents should be completed within the next two weeks. Once we have completed the construction documents the bidding package for the project will go out to bid, which should take an additional week or two. Fortunately, the funding for the repair of the slide was already approved at our April 11th Town Council Meeting; the approval will allow us to start the project as soon as we have a contractor in place.
The Town hopes to begin construction on the repair mid May 2011 , and I would estimate the project should be completed by early to mid July 2011.
