Public Works

The Hillsborough Public Works Department is the largest department in the Town of Hillsborough with 31 full-time staff members. The Public Works Department is responsible for the overall planning, maintenance, operation, and improvement of public infrastructure, including streets, storm drainage, sewer, and water.

The Department also provides project management services for a majority of the town's annual Capital Improvement Program. In partnering with the community, our goal is to provide cost-effective services in a personal, responsive, and innovative manner.

Sandbags for Hillsborough Residents

The Town of Hillsborough is providing free sandbags for residents who may be in need of protection from winter rains at two locations. Sandbags are available on a self-serve basis, day or night, at the Town Hall Walnut parking lot.  The sandbags will be covered with a plastic tarp. Sandbags will also be available for pickup at the Public Works Corporation Yard at 1320 La Honda Rd. during normal business hours. Please note there is a maximum of 15 sandbags per household and they are not for commercial or construction use.

The Public Works Department has made it easier to report and track non-emergency problems that residents encounter in their community by selecting the report tab below and completing the form. The location of the non-emergency issue can be identified by entering a specific address, or by dragging the red marker to the location within the community. After identifying the location of the issue, select the next button and share any details that are available. This information will be transmitted to the Public Works Department and will be addressed as soon as possible. A SeeClickFix application is also available for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android.
