In 1988 the San Mateo County Historical Association and the County's Historic Resources Advisory Board initiated a historic preservation program funded by the Peninsula Community Foundation. Hillsborough was one of the first communities to participate, and volunteers conducted an informal historic survey of Hillsborough homes in the spring of 1989. The survey was completed in 1990.
The Town has no historic register. As mentioned above, the survey is an informal analysis and not an official Town document. This means the Town has not approved the survey and it will not be used by the Town in making final determinations on development applications. Any use of information from the survey should be viewed through that lens.
