PG&E Voluntary Power Shutoffs

PG&E is planning voluntary power shutoffs in portions of Northern and Central California due to high wind forecasts.  Although the Town of Hillsborough is NOT currently included in the planned outage map, changes in weather forecasts may alter affected areas.

Customers will be notified in advance by PG&E if they will experience a power outage.  Areas may be affected by a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) even if they are not experiencing extreme weather conditions because the electric system relies on power lines working together to provide electricity across regions.

Always be prepared for any emergency by storing supplies in an easily reachable location in your house.  Items to store include:

  • Non-perishable food
  • A three day supply of water
  • Flashlights, a radio, and spare batteries
  • First aid supplies
  • Power banks for cell phones
  • Cash

PG&E has also created a simplified PSPS website you can view by clicking here.
