Who is allowed to solicit from door to door?
Religious groups and the U.S. Census can solicit without a permit. Soliciting is not allowed at night. No one should leave printed materials in your mailbox, on your car, or in your driveway.

If you do not recognize a person at your door, the Police Department suggests that you do not open the door. Residents should always report any suspicious persons to the police.

Please be advised that Town of Hillsborough employees carry IDs and typically wear clothing identifying them as employees. Residents are encouraged to request to see the ID before opening a door.
